Police were mobilised in Kiti on Friday after two masked individuals attempted to enter a bank branch but left within seconds when they were unable to gain access to the building.
According to police information, the incident unfolded outside a Bank of Cyprus branch in Kiti shortly before the alarm was raised. A vehicle carrying two people stopped on the pavement outside the branch. The occupants got out with their faces covered and were reportedly carrying sports-style bags.
They then moved towards the entrance of the bank, but the door did not open due to the branch’s controlled-access system. After remaining there briefly, the two returned to their vehicle and fled the area.

Strong police forces were deployed immediately, while the road in front of the bank was closed off as part of the investigation. Members of the Larnaca CID are at the scene carrying out examinations and other inquiries in an effort to identify the suspects.
No one was put at risk during the incident, and no property or money was stolen.
Police investigations are continuing.
