Cyprus Police have identified 48 high-risk points on the road network across all districts and are increasing supervision and enforcement at those locations as part of ongoing road safety measures.
According to a police announcement, the locations were mapped following an analysis of road collision data for the years 2023 to 2025. Each point was classified as dangerous based on the number of collisions recorded there each year.
Nicosia recorded the highest number, with 19 locations, followed by Larnaca with 14, Limassol with eight, Paphos with five and Famagusta with two.
Police said enhanced monitoring and policing measures are being applied at the identified points in an effort to reduce the risk of road collisions. The relevant authorities have also been informed so they can proceed with any interventions deemed necessary.
In Nicosia district, the locations include sections and junctions along 28 October Avenue, Limassol Avenue in Aglantzia, Athalassa Avenue, Larnakos Avenue, John Kennedy Avenue, Heroon Avenue in Engomi, and several major junctions involving Makariou II, Stasinou, Salaminos, Museum, Lord Byron, Griva Digeni and Spyrou Kyprianou avenues.
In Limassol, the points include junctions on Franklin Roosevelt, Vasileos Georgiou, Spyrou Kyprianou and Makariou III avenues, as well as the Paphos-Limassol A6 motorway near Erimi and the junction of Trion Ierarchon and Pireos streets.
In Larnaca district, the identified locations include junctions involving Grigori Afxentiou, Makariou III, Athinon, Spyrou Kyprianou, Vassos Lyssarides, Faneromenis and Artemidos avenues, as well as the Larnaca-Kofinou A5 motorway near the Kofinou exit, the Mazotos-Alaminos road and points in Oroklini, Pervolia, Livadia and Kalo Chorio.
In Paphos, police listed junctions involving Evropis, Giannou Kranidioti, Agapinoros, Apostolou Pavlou, Ambelokipon and Empas avenues and streets.
In Famagusta district, the two locations are Stadiou Street in Ayia Napa, between Monopetras and Almyrou Nerou streets, and the Sotira-Liopetri road, between the second and third kilometre.
Police also stressed the personal responsibility of drivers in protecting all road users, urging the public to exercise increased caution, drive responsibly and comply with the Highway Code.
