Hermes Airports welcomed on Tuesday, 2 June, at Larnaca Airport the first Air Astana flight from the city of Astana, inaugurating the new direct air connection between Cyprus and Kazakhstan.
According to an announcement by Hermes Airports, the new route will operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, while from 4 June 2026 the airline will also launch direct flights from the city of Almaty to Larnaca, every Thursday and Sunday. The flights will be operated with Airbus A321LR aircraft and will continue at least until September. The flight duration from Astana to Larnaca is 5 hours and 40 minutes, while from Almaty it is 6 hours and 5 minutes.
Upon arrival at Larnaca Airport, passengers of the first flight received a warm welcome from Hermes Airports, which presented them with commemorative gift boxes containing local Cypriot products and gifts, offering them a first experience of Cypriot hospitality.
At the same time, on the occasion of the departure of the first flight from Larnaca to Kazakhstan, Hermes Airports offered sweets and refreshing drinks to passengers. It is noted that this flight carried the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Christodoulides, and Government Ministers, on the first visit of a President of Cyprus to the ninth largest country in terms of area worldwide.
As highlighted, the new connection further strengthens Cyprus’ connectivity, offering new travel options and contributing to the development of tourism and business relations between the two countries.
Referring to the new route between Cyprus and Kazakhstan, Ms Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication at Hermes Airports, noted: “The launch of Air Astana flights is a particularly positive development for the connectivity of Cyprus.
