Suspect fled after firing at nearby building during early morning check

A motorcyclist pulled a gun and fired shots after being stopped by a police patrol in Nicosia in the early hours of Saturday, before fleeing the scene. The shooting caused damage to a glass display case at offices in a nearby building.

According to police, the patrol stopped the motorcyclist at around 4:15 am after observing suspicious movement in the area, where the individual had halted outside a specific building.

An officer approached the motorcycle for inspection, but the rider pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him. As the officer sought cover and called for backup, the suspect fired at the building and escaped.

Police patrols were immediately dispatched to the area, but the suspect has not yet been located.

Examinations at the scene confirmed damage to the glass frontage of company offices in the building. The Nicosia CID is investigating the case.
