The number of units affected by foot‑and‑mouth disease in the infected areas of Larnaca and Nicosia has risen to 116, following four new cases, according to the Veterinary Services.
Two cases were identified in Dromolaxia, one of which involves an unlicensed unit with seven animals.
The other two cases were detected in two units in Athienou, within already affected areas.
According to the Veterinary Services, the three licensed units involved have a total of 2,758 registered animals.
Sampling continues based on epidemiological assessment, while vaccination coverage has reached 92% of cattle units, 77% of sheep and goat units nationwide and 48.5% of pig units within restriction zones.
Vaccination of animals that have received the first dose is expected to be completed at 100% by 20 May.
