Planning for the "Red Flag" platform, designed to enable the early identification of high-risk incidents and the immediate, coordinated activation of the competent services, is progressing according to a set timetable. The aim is for the platform to become operational in early 2027.
Meeting chaired by the Minister of Justice
According to a statement by the Ministry of Justice, a new meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Minister of Justice Kostas Fytiris examined in detail the platform's design and structure, the information it will contain, how it will operate and the capabilities it will provide to the services involved.
Practical issues discussed
Practical issues concerning the system's implementation and operation were discussed. Questions were also raised, and views and suggestions were exchanged, to be taken into account in the platform's further development.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, the Commissioner for Gender Equality, Anastasia Papadopoulou, former President of "Foni", representatives of women's organisations and trade unions, and NGO representatives.
Representatives of the Police, the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection and the Social Welfare Services also took part.
How the platform will work
"Red Flag" is being designed as a prevention and early-intervention tool. Through it, the competent services will be able to assess in a timely manner information and indications that may be linked to an increased risk of violence, and coordinate their action before an incident escalates.
Timetable
The aim is to complete the design and the necessary procedures so that the platform can be up and running in early 2027.
