The implementation of Phases II and III of the Athalassa Mental Health Centre is moving forward as part of the State Health Services Organisation's (OKYpY) infrastructure development programme, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry said the project was reviewed during a meeting on Tuesday chaired by President Nikos Christodoulides to assess progress on OKYpY's development projects. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Makis Keravnos, Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides and the organisation's leadership.
'Significant impact'
According to the ministry, in addition to projects worth €128 million and the €17 million healthcare project in Polis Chrysochous, which had already been agreed at a previous expanded meeting, participants confirmed the advancement of additional projects valued at €61.7 million.
The ministry described the overall investment package as one with a "significant social impact", saying it covers the whole of Cyprus and addresses the healthcare system's infrastructure needs.
It added that Phases II and III of the Athalassa Mental Health Centre are of strategic importance for strengthening and modernising the country's mental health services.
The ministry also said instructions had been given to OKYpY to continue all required procedures and actions without delay to ensure the project's implementation.
