Israeli strikes in Lebanon have killed 1,318 people since the beginning of the war between the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement and Israel on 2 March, according to a new official toll released by the country’s Health Ministry.

The updated figures indicate that among the dead are 91 women, 125 children and 53 members of medical staff.

The ministry also reported 3,935 injured since the start of the hostilities.

The new total marks an increase from the figures released a day earlier. On Tuesday, Lebanon’s Health Ministry had reported 1,268 deaths resulting from Israeli strikes across the country.

The updated toll reflects the continuing escalation of the conflict and the growing humanitarian impact of the ongoing hostilities.
