Narendra Modi replies in Greek to President Christodoulides, reaffirming commitment to deeper bilateral cooperation

India regards Cyprus as a close friend and reliable partner, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, expressing his anticipation of welcoming the President of the Republic to India in the coming months.

The message was posted on the social media platform X, in response to a congratulatory post by Nikos Christodoulides marking India’s Republic Day.

A message of shared values

President Christodoulides had conveyed his warm wishes in English, highlighting the strong ties between the two countries.

“Cyprus deeply values our enduring friendship, our shared democratic values and our steadily strengthening cooperation. I look forward to visiting India in May,” the President wrote.

Prime Minister Modi responded in Greek, thanking the President for his message and underlining the importance of bilateral relations.

“Thank you, President Nikos Christodoulides, for your warm wishes,” the Indian Prime Minister said. “Cyprus is a close friend and trusted partner, and we are committed to deepening our existing cooperation. I look forward to welcoming you to India.”
