Samsung is introducing a new feature that will allow Android users to send files directly to Apple devices, bridging a long-standing gap between the two ecosystems.
The functionality will begin rolling out on Monday on the Galaxy S26 series. It will enable users to send photos, videos and other files to iPhone, iPad and Mac devices through Samsung’s Quick Share system.
The option can be activated in the device settings by selecting the feature “Share with Apple devices”.
The solution is based on technology developed by Google for Android. Similar functionality had previously been implemented on Google Pixel devices.
Apple did not participate in the development of the feature and has not commented on Android devices gaining access to functionality similar to AirDrop, which has long been considered one of the advantages of Apple’s ecosystem.
The development comes at a time when Apple is facing growing pressure from regulators worldwide to open the iOS system to third-party interoperability.
According to Samsung, the feature will gradually expand to additional Galaxy models in the future. Other Android manufacturers, including Oppo, have also announced plans to introduce similar compatibility with Apple devices.
The move signals a shift in the market, as file sharing between different platforms had until recently remained a significant limitation for users.
