The Disney+ special celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana” attracted 6.3 million views within its first three days on the platform.
The release also triggered a major resurgence for the original Disney Channel series, with viewership increasing by 1,000% compared with the previous week. Despite ending in 2011, the show remains popular, having been streamed more than 500 million hours to date.
The special premiered on March 24, exactly twenty years after the show’s debut, which launched the career of Miley Cyrus. During the program, Cyrus returned to the original set, shared memories of the series alongside her mother Tish Cyrus-Purcell, spoke with podcast host Alex Cooper, and performed songs from the show for fans.
The “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” was produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, with Ashley Edens serving as showrunner.
