A monumental sculpture titled "Cyprus Through the Ages" has been installed in the Lefkolla area of the Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality, marking the completion of a project aimed at enhancing the district's cultural landscape.
Created by acclaimed Cypriot sculptor Philippos Yiapanis, the artwork is described by the municipality as a project of significant artistic and symbolic value, reflecting Cyprus' historical journey through the centuries.
According to the municipality, the sculpture highlights the continuity of the island's culture, history and identity, while inviting visitors on a symbolic journey linking the past, present and future through a contemporary artistic interpretation.
New cultural landmark
Municipal authorities said the installation enriches the public space with a new cultural point of reference and supports efforts to promote the municipality as a destination that invests in culture, art and the enhancement of public areas.
The project was made possible through a donation by Chrysostomos Papavasileiou, whose contribution was recognised by the municipality as meaningful support for Cyprus' cultural heritage.
The municipality expressed its appreciation to all those involved in bringing the project to completion.
"Cyprus Through the Ages now constitutes a new landmark for Famagusta district, offering residents and visitors a place of aesthetic value, historical reflection and contemplation, while strengthening the cultural identity and outward-looking character of the Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality," the municipality said.
Protaras Riviera shop opens
In a separate development, the municipality announced the opening of the first Protaras Riviera Shop in the heart of Protaras.
The store forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the area's tourism identity and develop the Protaras Riviera brand.
Visitors can purchase a range of official merchandise and souvenirs inspired by the authenticity, hospitality and natural beauty of the resort.
The store's design draws inspiration from traditional Cypriot coastal architecture and is intended to reinforce the positioning of Protaras Riviera as a modern, high-quality and recognisable tourism brand.
