The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (ISFFC) is inviting actors and film directors to a speed dating-style networking event, designed to help the island's screen community build connections outside the usual audition and casting process. The initiative is being run in collaboration with the Directors Guild of Cyprus, the Actors Union Cyprus and the Theatre Artists of the Pancyprian Labour Federation.
How it works
Participants will rotate through a series of short, one-to-one meetings, spending just a few minutes with each new person before moving on. There is no requirement to pitch a project, prepare an audition or arrive with material ready for casting. The organisers describe the goal simply as helping actors and filmmakers "find each other when the right project comes along."
Who can take part
The open call is addressed to professional actors and film directors of all genders, backgrounds and levels of experience. Actors interested in connecting with directors for current or future film and audiovisual projects are encouraged to apply, as are directors looking to meet performers they may want to work with immediately or further down the line. Applicants will be asked to submit a short biography along with basic details of their professional background.
Event details
The event will take place at the Art Studio next to Rialto Theatre on 10 October 2026, from 17:30 to 19:00. Participation is free, though places are limited.

Interested actors and directors must complete the application form by the deadline of 20 September 2026. Participants will be contacted by 1 October 2026 to confirm their place.
For Cyprus's close-knit screen and stage community, the format offers something the standard casting circuit rarely allows: a low-pressure room where a five-minute conversation might be the start of the next Cypriot short film. Anyone with a project brewing, or simply curious to expand their creative circle, has until 20 September to put their name forward.
