Severe African Dust Episode Triggers Weather Warning in Cyprus

High concentrations expected overnight due to cyclonic activity north of Egypt

Authorities have issued an emergency weather bulletin warning of a significant episode of African dust set to affect the island overnight.

The Department of Meteorology said high concentrations of dust are expected to impact the country intermittently as a result of cyclonic activity north of Egypt.

According to the announcement, dust levels are forecast to reach very high concentrations at times, raising concerns over air quality.

The warning came into effect at 18:00 on Friday and is set to remain in place until 06:00 on Saturday.
