Government Announces Housing Scheme Updates and Student Residence Plan

Changes to existing housing schemes and the preparation of a new plan for student residences were announced following a meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Presidential Palace. Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou said detailed presentations on the measures will follow in the coming days. The announcements also include an upcoming briefing on the implementation progress of the government’s broader housing policy.

Amendments to existing housing schemes

Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou stated that modifications are being introduced to housing programmes covering border and mountain areas, as well as to the “Renovate–Rent” scheme.

The announcements were made in statements following today’s session of the Council of Ministers. No additional details were provided at this stage regarding the specific content of the amendments.

New plan focused on student residences

The Interior Minister also said that a new plan has been prepared concerning student residences. Referring to anticipated developments in higher education, he noted that the arrival of additional university institutions is expected to increase demand for student accommodation.

He did not disclose further information about the structure or provisions of the plan.

According to the Interior Minister, the details of the housing schemes will be presented during a press conference scheduled for the beginning of next week.

He added that the government will also present the progress made in implementing its housing policy.
