Man Killed in Car Crash in Paphos District

The 32-year-old victim had travelled to the area to train hunting dogs with a friend.

A fatal road collision occurred on Saturday morning in the Paphos district. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Stylianos Genis from Geroskipou.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Operations in Paphos, Michalis Nikolaou, at around 8:50 a.m. a 32-year-old Greek Cypriot man was driving along a dirt road in a rural area of the village of Pentalia when, under circumstances still under investigation, he lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and plunged into a ravine.

The driver sustained fatal injuries. According to information so far, the 32-year-old had travelled to the area with a 35-year-old friend for the purpose of training their hunting dogs.

The 35-year-old, along with the dogs, had exited the vehicle earlier. The body of the deceased man was recovered by members of the Fire Service and transferred to the Paphos mortuary.

The scene remains cordoned off and is being examined by officers of the Paphos Traffic Department, who are continuing investigations into the exact causes of the crash.
