A series of earthquakes were recorded shortly before in the Paphos area.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, three seismic tremors were recorded with magnitudes of 3.6, 4.1 and 2.5 on the Richter scale. The tremors occurred at 19:18, 19:19 and 19:21 respectively.
The focal depth is reported to be 9 kilometres, with the epicentre located 5 kilometres southwest of Paphos.
