Some rainfall is expected on Monday, mainly until shortly after midday, before conditions begin to improve, Meteorological Officer Iasonas Christodoulou told the Cyprus News Agency.
Christodoulou said earlier that showers were affecting mainly western areas, particularly the districts of Paphos and Limassol. Winds remain relatively strong but are expected to weaken by the evening.
On Tuesday, isolated showers are forecast, mainly in the eastern half of the island, with a slight chance of thunderstorms and light snowfall.
“From then on, the weather improves significantly and temperatures will rise noticeably by Friday, returning to normal levels, around 28 to 29°C inland,” he said.
Maximum temperatures on Monday are expected to reach around 18°C inland, rising slightly to about 19°C on Tuesday, while coastal areas will be close to 20°C. A more pronounced increase is expected from Wednesday onwards.
Snowfall has also been recorded in the Troodos mountains, with snow depth at the highest peak estimated at just over 10 centimetres. Further light snowfall is possible in the coming hours and again early Tuesday afternoon.
In the mountains, temperatures are expected to reach around 9°C on Tuesday before gradually returning to seasonal averages of 17 to 18°C in the coming days.
