Authorities are continuing investigations into a serious malicious damage case after four ambulances belonging to a private clinic in Paphos were set on fire in the early hours of Sunday.

Police believe the arson may be linked to financial disputes. Examinations by police and the Fire Service found that the blaze was set deliberately using flammable material.

According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, three of the ambulances sustained extensive damage to their front sections, while a fourth was slightly damaged. Two fire engines responded to the scene, with firefighters using water hoses and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

Police communications officer Kyriakos Theodorou said evidence collected from the scene will be sent for scientific analysis as part of efforts to identify those responsible.

The same clinic appears to have been targeted in recent days. In a previous incident, unknown persons threw a defensive hand grenade at the home of the clinic’s owner in Ayia Marinouda. Police also said there had been an attempted arson shortly before that incident.

A 59-year-old man has already been arrested in connection with the grenade case and has been remanded in custody for three days since May 2.

No arrests have been made so far in connection with the ambulance arson.

The Paphos CID is continuing investigations and examining all possibilities, including whether the incidents are linked.
