Iran's senior national security adviser Mohsen Rezaei says Tehran is preparing a formal list of conditions for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, following requests from mediators seeking clarification on Iran's position.
According to Rezaei, one of the central conditions is an end to the ongoing conflict in the region.
Conditions for shipping route
Rezaei said Iran has also reached an agreement with Oman on a navigation corridor through the Strait of Hormuz.
Under the arrangement, vessels would travel through a designated central shipping channel passing through waters belonging to both Iran and Oman.
Speaking through an interpreter in an interview with Lebanon's Al Manar television network, Rezaei said ships would be permitted to use the route if the United States met Iran's conditions.
Strategic waterway
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important maritime chokepoints, serving as a key route for global energy exports from Gulf producers.
Any restrictions or conditions affecting traffic through the strait have the potential to influence international oil and shipping markets.
Denial over Barron Trump allegations
Rezaei also rejected reports alleging the existence of a plot to assassinate Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump.
He described the claims as false.
The comments followed a statement by the US Secret Service earlier this week saying it was aware of a video broadcast by Iranian state television in which a possible conspiracy against Barron Trump was discussed.
