Cypriot cyclists posted strong results in the individual time trials at the 2026 UEC Road European Championships in Šenčur, Slovenia, led by Bogdan Zabelinskiy, who finished eighth in Europe in the under-23 category over the 22.1km course. The result confirms the Cypriot champion's excellent form and extends a run of strong performances on the international stage, coming after his silver medal in the time trial at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games in August, which was Cyprus' first medal of those games.
Miltiades and Gavriel gain experience
In the elite men's race, Andreas Miltiades finished 31st in a demanding event that brought together some of Europe's leading time triallists, with victory going to Slovenia's Primož Roglič, who delighted the home crowd by taking the title. Sofia Gavriel also finished 31st in the junior women's race, gaining valuable experience at one of the most important European events of the year. The performances of the Cypriot riders mark a further step in Cypriot cycling's efforts to maintain a strong presence on the European stage.
