An urgent appeal has been issued for blood donations to cover the immediate needs of a young mother who is being treated in serious condition following childbirth.
Members of the public who are able to donate blood are asked to go as soon as possible to the blood donation centres in Geri and Engomi, which will remain open until 8pm.

Authorities are calling for an immediate response, stressing that the need for blood is particularly urgent.
