Two Questioned Over Troodos Forest Fire Near Prodromos

Fire brought under control within 40 minutes before it could spread

 

Two people are being questioned in connection with a forest fire that broke out early on Sunday in the Prodromou reservoir area within the Troodos State Forest, authorities said.

According to the Forestry Department, the fire erupted at around 12.45am, prompting an immediate response from firefighting teams.

Seven members of the Forestry Department, supported by three fire engines, were dispatched to the scene, along with three members of the Fire Service and one fire engine.

The fire was brought fully under control by 1.25am, before it could spread further.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, while two individuals are being questioned as part of the inquiry, the Forestry Department said.
