Limassol Municipality has upgraded around 20% of the city's road network over the past two years, with infrastructure works worth more than €21.5 million covering 108.9 kilometres of roads and 81 kilometres of pavements.
The municipality said the programme prioritised road safety, functionality and improving residents' quality of life.
Between July 2024 and June 2026, the municipality's Technical Services implemented an extensive programme for maintaining and upgrading the city's infrastructure through a series of contracts, with the total contractual value of the works exceeding €21.5 million.
More than €12m invested in roads
More than €12 million was spent on the road network.
In 2025, maintenance and reconstruction works were completed on around 10.1 kilometres of roads. During 2026, the programme was expanded to cover an additional 98.8 kilometres, bringing the total length of roads covered by the works to 108.9 kilometres.
The work included full resurfacing, as well as maintenance and upgrades to major and secondary roads.
The municipality said the works represented a significant intervention given that Limassol's overall municipal road network extends to approximately 500 kilometres.
It means around one-fifth of the city's roads have been upgraded within a two-year period.
€9.5m spent on pavements and public spaces
A further €9.5 million was allocated to extensive improvements to public spaces and pedestrian infrastructure.
Between July 2024 and June 2026, around 81 kilometres of pavements were completed, alongside 156,330 square metres of pavement paving and 81,160 linear metres of kerbstones.
The municipality said the works were designed to provide safer and more functional routes for pedestrians alongside the city's road network.
Further targeted works planned
Alongside the wider programme, targeted interventions have also been completed or are being launched at key locations across Limassol.
These include local repairs and road-marking works, the full restoration of paving blocks along Anexartisias Street and the restoration of paving blocks in Mesa Geitonia.
The municipality said the interventions demonstrated its commitment to making Limassol a more accessible, sustainable and pedestrian- and driver-friendly city.
It added that the programme was improving infrastructure across neighbourhoods while strengthening safety and accessibility for all residents.
