Cyprus consumers remain broadly satisfied with mobile phone services, although recurring internet and network problems continue to affect a significant proportion of users.
Overall satisfaction reached 8.4 out of 10, marginally below the 8.5 recorded in 2025, according to the sixth annual consumer survey commissioned by the Commissioner for Communications.
The survey was conducted in May 2026 among 1,207 respondents, including 812 people living in urban areas and 395 in rural communities.
Price remains the main factor
Better prices and offers remain the most important consideration when choosing a mobile provider, cited by 46% of respondents. Reliability followed at 27%, while 24% pointed to network coverage.
When asked to identify the single most important reason for selecting their current provider, 24% cited better prices and offers.
Lower charges and more competitive offers were also the main reason for changing provider, mentioned by 37%. A further 17% said they would switch to another company for better call coverage.
Satisfaction with value for money increased slightly to 8.2 out of 10, from 8.1 in 2025.
Mobile internet problems increase
Among problems experienced at least once a month, 27% reported poor mobile internet quality, an increase of two percentage points compared with last year.
Complete loss of service was reported by 24%, while 21% experienced poor line quality and 17% reported dropped calls.
Another 15% said calls were transferred directly to voicemail, 11% experienced delays in sending text messages and 6% reported delays in receiving voicemail messages. Such problems were more frequently reported among consumers aged 18 to 29.
Satisfaction with complaint handling falls
Seventeen per cent of respondents said they had reason to complain about their mobile services during the past 12 months, compared with 16% in 2025.
Of those consumers, 41% submitted a complaint to their provider, down from 44% the previous year.
Satisfaction with the way complaints were handled fell to 5.1 out of 10, compared with 5.6 in 2025.
One in five considering switching provider
Twenty per cent of consumers said they were open to changing mobile provider, while a further 2% were actively looking for another company.
Among those considering a switch, 68% had experienced at least one mobile service quality problem.
The survey was carried out by Pulse Market Research Ltd using a structured questionnaire prepared by the Market Observatory team of the Office of the Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation.
