The pair, described as friends, are expected to appear before a court after being arrested near the Pyrgos/Limnitis crossing point.

Two young Greek Cypriots, a man and a woman, were arrested in the north on Sunday on allegations of entering a 'restricted military area' and failing to complete the required “immigration procedures,” according to reports.

According to the news website Lefke Haber, the two individuals, described as friends, entered the area through the Pyrgos/Limnitis crossing point.

The report claims they continued their journey by vehicle without completing the necessary entry procedures at the crossing.

Following checks by 'police teams', the two were allegedly detained for failing to comply with the prescribed entry procedures. A subsequent investigation reportedly led authorities to conclude that they had entered a 'restricted military zone.'

The pair are expected to be brought before a 'court' today.

The report also stated that 'police' are conducting a detailed investigation to clarify all aspects of the incident.

Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus have been aware of the case since Sunday and are taking the appropriate steps.
