Father to Appear in Court After Death of Three-Year-Old at Paphos Hotel

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a three-year-old boy who reportedly fell from the fourth floor of a hotel in Paphos. The child's father is due to appear in court today.

A three-year-old boy has died after reportedly falling from the fourth floor of a hotel in Paphos on Sunday evening, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

As part of the investigation, police arrested the child's 37-year-old father on Sunday under a court warrant to assist with inquiries.

He is being investigated for the alleged offences of causing death through a reckless, negligent or dangerous act, neglect of duty as head of a family, and failure of responsibility as a person responsible for the care of another individual.

The 37-year-old is expected to appear before the Paphos District Court on Monday morning, where police will seek a detention order to facilitate further investigations.

A post-mortem examination on the child's body has been scheduled for 12pm on Monday at the Nicosia mortuary. The examination will be conducted by forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou.

Police were informed of the incident at 6.40pm, after the child had already been transported by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors, the boy was pronounced dead.

The scene remains under police guard while investigators continue efforts to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

The case is being investigated by the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
