A large fire at a factory in the Aradippou Industrial Area remained out of control on Monday, with firefighting crews reinforcing their operation as flames spread throughout the building.
According to the latest official update from the Fire Service, the blaze has now affected all areas of the factory. The main priority for crews is to protect neighbouring industrial premises and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Seven fire engines are taking part in the operation, along with a breathing apparatus vehicle and a hydraulic telescopic platform. Units have been deployed from Larnaca and Nicosia, as well as from the Vasilikos Fire Station and the Disaster Response Special Unit.
A water tanker from the Forestry Department has also been called in to support the firefighting effort.
The Fire Service has set up a forward control centre at the scene to coordinate the response. The Ambulance Service and officers from the Department of Labour Inspection have also been called as a precaution and are monitoring developments.
Firefighters are continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control.
