A new attempt to smuggle items into the Central Prisons using a drone was detected and prevented on Thursday morning, according to the Ministry of Justice.
As stated, the anti-drone system operating at the prison facility identified a drone carrying a package towards the premises. Both the device and the package were immediately seized by the competent prison authorities.
The Police were informed of the incident and took custody of the evidence for further investigation.
The Ministry of Justice noted that this latest case confirms the effectiveness of the anti-drone system, describing it as an important tool for strengthening security at the Central Prisons.
The aim, it added, is to prevent the illegal introduction of mobile phones, drugs and other prohibited items into the correctional facility.
