The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is investigating a case of assault and robbery involving a food delivery rider. According to police, the incident took place at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, while the 23-year-old was riding his bicycle along Omonia Avenue in Limassol.
Three assailants demanded food delivery
According to the complainant, he was approached by three unknown individuals who demanded he hand over the food he was carrying. When he refused, the individuals attacked him, striking him with their hands and an iron object. One of the alleged perpetrators is reported to have stabbed him in the abdominal area with a knife.
€150 stolen; victim hospitalised
The alleged perpetrators are reported to have stolen €150 in cash from the complainant before fleeing the scene. The rider was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he was found to have abrasions across various parts of his body, swelling to his right eye, and a superficial wound to his left abdominal area. He was kept in hospital for further treatment.
Victim found to be residing illegally
In the course of the investigation, it emerged that the 23-year-old is residing illegally in the territory of the Republic. He was subsequently arrested on the spot for the offence of illegal residence.
