Cypriot swimmer Kalia Antoniou claimed the bronze medal at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Sacramento, USA, setting a new national record in the process.
Antoniou secured third place in the 50-metre freestyle final with a time of 24.83 seconds, breaking her own previous Cypriot national record.
World Championship qualification secured
According to the swimming and water polo department of her club, APOEL, Antoniou's time surpasses the 'A' qualifying standard for the 2027 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the Cypriot athlete, cementing her position at the elite level of international swimming ahead of the upcoming global tournament.
