United States President Donald Trump said Washington is in contact with representatives in Iran and claimed that the United States and Israel are “winning the war”. Iranian officials, however, denied that any negotiations are underway.
Trump claims progress in war and diplomacy
Donald Trump stated that the United States has effectively “won the war” against Iran, arguing that a joint US–Israel campaign has eliminated senior Iranian leaders.
He also claimed that Tehran has agreed that it will never pursue nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Trump confirmed that the United States is speaking with someone inside Iran, though he did not specify with whom the contacts are taking place.
Tehran rejects negotiations
Iranian officials denied that talks with Washington are underway.
An Iranian official said that the United States is “negotiating by itself”, insisting that Tehran has not engaged in discussions. The same official reiterated that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons.
According to Trump, Vice President J. D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are involved in the contacts.
Reference to oil and the Strait of Hormuz
Trump also hinted at a possible “gift” related to oil, natural gas and the Strait of Hormuz.
However, he did not provide further details or a timeline regarding the potential end of hostilities.
