The keynote speaker at an event focused on the impact of artificial intelligence, Dr. Marina Theodotou, warned on Thursday that AI will reshape the very nature of power and security globally, creating a new reality for all.

The event in Nicosia – spotlighting AI’s pivotal role in national security and strategic planning – was organised by Politeia Centre for Socio-Political Thinking.

Dr Theodotou, Executive Director of the Center for Frontier AI Security and former Executive Director of the Defense Innovation Board at the Pentagon, explored rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and their profound implications for global security.

“Artificial intelligence is not merely a technological tool, but a catalyst reshaping the very nature of power and security at a global level, creating a new reality in which we will all live in,” she said.

The discussion unfolded in a fireside chat format, moderated by Politeia President Anna Koukkides-Procopiou, with opening remarks from Founder and Honorary President of Politeia, Dr. Nicos Peristianis.

The session featured targeted questions that illuminated critical applications of AI in security, governance and strategic decision-making.

Politeia is a non-profit organization that operates as a centre for socio-political thinking and aims to promote active citizenship.
