Cyprus Tourism Figures Before War's Disruption

Tourist arrivals reached 4.5 million, total traveller arrivals 7.1 million, tourism revenue €3.7 billion and outbound trips by Cyprus residents 2 million, according to Cystat.

Statistics on the course of tourism in 2025 were published on Monday by the Statistical Service.

Travellers

In 2025, travel traffic to and from Cyprus recorded an increase compared to 2024. Specifically, total traveller arrivals reached 7.1 million, marking an increase of 13.0%, while departures also reached 7.1 million, recording a rise of 12.8% compared to 2024.

Air transport accounted for 96.8% of both arrivals and departures in 2025.

Tourists

Tourist arrivals increased by 12.2% and reached 4.5 million, up from 4 million in 2024.

In 2025, the United Kingdom was the main source of tourism for Cyprus, accounting for 31.8% of total tourist traffic. It was followed by Israel with 13.0%, Poland with 8.2%, Germany with 6.1%, Greece with 3.9% and Sweden with 3.4%.

The purpose of travel in 2025 was holidays for 79.8% of tourists, visiting friends or relatives for 13.1%, and business purposes for 7.0%.

Tourism revenue

Tourism revenue in 2025 is estimated at €3.7 billion, compared to €3.2 billion in 2024, marking an increase of 15.2%.

In 2025, average expenditure per person was estimated at €815.16, recording an increase of 2.6% compared to 2024. The highest per capita expenditure was recorded in August at €966.41, while the lowest was recorded in February at €595.71.

Cyprus residents

Outbound travel by Cyprus residents increased by 11.9%, reaching 2 million in 2025 compared to 1.8 million in 2024.

In 2025, 32.6% of residents travelled to Greece, 8.9% to the United Kingdom, 5.5% to Italy, 3.8% to Russia, 3.5% to Germany and 3.3% to Poland. The highest number of trips by Cyprus residents was recorded in August, while the lowest was recorded in February.

A total of 73.1% of Cyprus residents returning from trips abroad in 2025 stated that their main purpose of travel was holidays, 20.5% cited business reasons, 5.3% studies and 1.1% other reasons.
