A new wildfire broke out late this morning between the communities of Goudi and Polis Chrysochous in the Paphos district, with the call logged at 10:53 a.m.. According to the Fire Service, engines from Paphos district stations are on scene, reinforced by the Department of Forests and the District Administration. The blaze is burning wild scrub and dry grass over an estimated four hectares, while four aerial firefighting assets are conducting water drops to support ground crews.
Earlier today, separate fires were reported elsewhere in Paphos. At 10:36 a.m., a blaze in the “Vatouthkia” area near Koili was brought under control by 11:10, after burning half a decare of dry grass and wild vegetation (about 500 sq m). Two fire engines and a Portable Firefighting Unit from rural Paphos stations responded. At 11:11, a small fire involving a pile of prunings and dry grass in Konia was also placed under control.
At the current state, operations continue on the Goudi–Chrysochous front, with authorities urging caution due to dry conditions and wind shifts.
