The trial concerning the Central Prisons documents did not effectively begin even at today’s hearing before the Nicosia Assize Court. The Prosecution handed over to the defence lawyers of the eight defendants 1,116 documents out of the 2,900 documents that had not previously been disclosed.

As regards the remaining 1,884 documents, following consultations it was decided that their inspection would be allowed at police headquarters, in the presence of the investigator of the case, without restrictions.

The defence lawyers will be entitled to be accompanied by their clients and to take notes on the documents they inspect.

The Prosecution requested two weeks to complete the separation of the documents, after which the defence lawyers will be informed so that a date can be arranged for the inspection of the material.

The Court adjourned the case until 9 June.
