Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Jordan reviewed progress in their trilateral cooperation during a meeting in New York, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week.

Constantinos Kombos held talks with his counterparts Ayman Safadi of Jordan and Yiorgos Gerapetritis of Greece, focusing on regional issues, but also on-going Cyprus settlement efforts.

According to a Foreign Ministry statement, discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in key areas, including tourism and wildfire response, also in view of the creation of an EU Wildfire Response Hub in Cyprus that will coordinate efforts.

Ahead of the trilateral, Kombos held bilateral talks with Safadi, where both ministers reaffirmed the excellent level of Nicosia-Amman relations and pledged to deepen their strategic partnership.

Kombos also expressed appreciation for Jordan’s assistance in tackling the deadly Limassol July wildfires in Cyprus and Amman’s consistent support on the Cyprus issue.
