Shrapnel struck and caused material damage to the apartment building that houses the Embassy of Cyprus in Tel Aviv in the early hours of Thursday, 2 April.

A source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told politis.com.cy that no injuries were reported, as the embassy staff were not in the offices at the time of the incident.

The same source clarified that neither the Embassy nor the building itself was the target of an attack.

It appears that the damage was caused by shrapnel resulting from the interception of a missile aimed at Israel, the source said.

For safety reasons, the embassy staff will now return to remote‑working arrangements, the source added.
