An updated travel advisory published on 5 March 2026 on the official website of the United Kingdom states that terrorist attacks in Cyprus cannot be ruled out and highlights increased security risks due to escalating tensions in the wider region.

According to the latest UK security assessment, regional tensions pose significant risks and have already caused travel disruptions.

The advisory also refers to last Sunday’s incident at the Akrotiri Sovereign Base Areas, describing it as a “suspected drone impact”.

The United Kingdom advises British nationals in the Sovereign Base Areas to follow guidance issued by the British Bases Administration, including updates provided through its Facebook page. At the same time, British citizens in areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus are advised to comply with any instructions issued by local Cypriot authorities.
