Lebanon Accuses Israel of ‘Attacks’ in Violation of Ceasefire

Lebanese army reports Israeli strikes and shelling hours after ceasefire took effect, while Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli troops in retaliation.

The Lebanese army has accused Israel of carrying out attacks and bombardments in violation of a ten-day ceasefirethat came into force at midnight local time, according to statements published shortly after the truce began.

In a post on X, the Lebanese army referred to “violations of the agreement”, stating that “several Israeli attacks were recorded” along with sporadic artillery shelling that struck a number of villages.

Hezbollah announces retaliatory strike

The Shiite movement Hezbollah, which is aligned with Iran, said it targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in retaliation.

According to the group, it bombarded Israeli military forces near the town of Khiam, located in southern Lebanon.
