Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Katherina Reiche, has warned that the continuation of the war could lead to global energy supply shortages, during a speech delivered in Texas.
As she stated, “at present there is no observable shortage in fuel volumes. However, if the war continues until late April or early May, then shortages in fuel supply will certainly emerge — affecting oil, petrol and kerosene,” Reiche noted.
At the same time, Germany’s Defence Minister, Boris Pistorius, speaking from Australia where he is currently visiting, reiterated that Germany will not take part in the war, nor send forces while hostilities continue in the Strait of Hormuz.
He added, however, that Germany could contribute its own military forces to help maintain a peace agreement in the region.
Pistorius visited Australia following a trip to Japan, and signed defence cooperation agreements with both countries.
