Cyprus has been included in the European AI Factories network, a move the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy says strengthens the country’s position on the continent’s innovation map and underscores its commitment to cutting-edge technologies, quality data and human talent.
The Cyprus-Greece link: “Pharos-CY”
Cyprus will participate through Pharos-CY, partnering closely with Greece’s AI Factory 'Pharos.' These are innovation structures designed to work with peer AI Factories across Europe, bolster national ecosystems and provide access to advanced computing for research, innovation and industrial uses.
Pharos-CY aims to accelerate the development and adoption of trustworthy, high value-added AI in health, sustainability, culture, and language. In language technology, Cyprus and Greece will co-develop and optimize large language models (LLMs) tailored to Greek and Greek-related datasets, alongside joint projects in health and clean-tech energy.
Tools and infrastructure for businesses
Through Pharos-CY, Cyprus’s SMEs and startups gain access to the DAEDALOS supercomputing infrastructure, advanced AI tools and services, and specialized support to integrate innovative AI into day-to-day operations.
According to the Deputy Ministry, the success of the Pharos-CY proposal is a milestone in building a strong AI ecosystem in Cyprus and a strategic step in the government’s plan to embed this transformative technology across the economy.
By joining the AI Factories network, Cyprus deepens its European partnerships and signals long-term investment in technology, data and talent, with concrete benefits for researchers, innovators and industry.
