International Conference ‘Yannis Ritsos, New Tesserae’ Announced In Nicosia

Two-day event at the University of Cyprus brings 40 scholars from Cyprus and Greece

Διεθνές Επιστημονικό Συνέδριο με θέμα: «Γιάννης Ρίτσος: Νέες ψηφίδες»

The Group of Literature and Criticism, in collaboration with the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Cyprus, will host an international conference titled “Yannis Ritsos, New Tesserae” on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September 2025, at the university’s Ceremonial Hall. Around 40 academics and researchers from Cyprus and Greece will present original papers.

At the opening on 26 September, Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus and Eri Ritsou, the poet’s daughter, will deliver brief greetings, Cypriot writers will read unpublished works in dialogue with Ritsos, and the PASYDY Choir, conducted by Maro Mitsa, will perform settings of Ritsos’s poetry.

Participation is in person only, certificates of attendance will be provided to those who request them.
